Frank Pinzone Frank
Pinzone contracted a bacterial infection at the age of two. It resulted
in the loss of skin on his face, partial loss of his intestines and the
amputation of both his legs. He has undergone numerous skin grafting
procedures on his face and body as well as physical therapy to help in
his rehabilitation.
When Frank was ten years old, the Hope For
Tomorrow Foundation raised funds to help the Amherst, New York boy. In
1995 and 1996, plastic surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Meilman donated his services
at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, near Buffalo, New York in an effort to
improve Frank's facial appearance and to raise his self esteem to some
degree as he entered his teenage years. |

Irina Nefyodova
Irina
Nefyodova is from Russia. When she was eight years old her face was
being destroyed by a benign tumor. Instead of learning how to ride a
bike or swim or jump rope, Irina hid from the world.
The Hope
For Tomorrow Foundation came to Irina's aid by bringing her to the
United States and Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York. In 1996 the
surgery to remove the tumor was performed by Doctorss Kulwant Bhangoo
and Jeffrey Meilman.
The six hour procedure restored her face and gave Irina back her self esteem and a bright future. |

Tihana Vasarevic
An
explosion during the Bosnian War claimed many members of Tihana
Vasarevic's family and almost completely destroyed her face. It needed
to be rebuilt including her nose and giving her new eyebrows and a new
hair line.
Thanks to the remarkable talents of Dr. Jeffrey
Meilman and Riyaz Hassanali and the donated services of Kenmore Mercy
and Sisters Hospitals in Buffalo, New York, Tihana can face life. And
when she greets the world with her new face the world she greets it
with praise for the Hope For Tomorrow Foundation.
Tihana was blessed by Pope John Paul II in 1995. |

- Trevaughn Lewis

Trevaughn Lewis Trevaughn
Lewis is a three year old child from Kingston, Jamaica. At three months
old, he underwent an operation to remove a large tumor that encompassed
his left eye and the soft tissue around the left eye. The operation
left him disfigured and over time, without a prosthesis, the tissue
began to shrink and deform.
Early in 2000 the Hope For Tomorrow
Foundation and a team of doctors traveled to Jamaica to perform
humanitarian surgery at the Bustamante Children's Hospital in Kingston.
Trevaughn was presented to the surgical team and doctors there
requested he be brought to the United States for reconstructive surgery.
The
Hope For Tomorrow Foundation made arrangements for Trevaughn to be
brought to the United States for reconstructive surgery to the left
orbit and an eye prosthesis at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in
Buffalo, New York. |

Meera Pardeshi Meera
Pardeshi was severely burned when a kitchen stove exploded. Her
injuries were so severe that although Indian doctors saved her life her
scars were so hideous that she refused to leave her home.
It
was at the request of the late Mother Teresa that Dr. Jeffrey Meilman
and the Hope For Tomorrow Foundation agreed to help Meera. In 1998 the
foundation brought her to the United States and persuaded Kenmore Mercy
Hospital Anesthesiologist, Dr. Thomas O'Connor, and Dr. Meilman to
donate the services needed to make Meera feel human again.
Today Meera is confident and part of the family of children who have been helped by the Hope For Tomorrow Foundation.
Meera was blessed by Pope John Paul II 1998. |

James Huebbers

James Huebbers James Huebbers is
an eleven year old from Sloan, New York, near Buffalo. He was born with an
inherited disease called Neurofibromatosis. He has had severe facial deformities
which have necessitated previous surgery. Although his condition may be
progressive, the Hope For Tomorrow Foundation is sponsoring extensive facial
reconstructive surgery and left orbital reconstruction. |

Marcin Cywka
In
1997, at age 10, Marcin Cywka, a young Polish boy on his way home from school,
was attacked by wolf dogs. The dogs severely mangled his left arm and legs and
ripped off his right arm at the shoulder. Marcin, near death, was taken to a
nearby hospital where the multiple wounds of his legs and left arm were repaired
and the remainder of his right arm amputated.
Nerve damage had left
Marcin's left arm non-functional and he was completely dependent on his mother
to dress, clean and feed himself. But thanks to the Hope For Tomorrow Foundation
in 1999, Marcin has a new prothesis allowing him to do many things for himself. |

Mehrnoush Tafreshi

Mehrnoushn Tafreshi Iranian
student, Mehrnoush Tafreshi, suffers from Myopia, which causes her to be highly
nearsighted and has caused a detached retina. A top student in Tehran and
desperate for help, she wrote to Pope John Paul II for assistance. The Pope
contacted the Polish American Congress in Cheektowaga, New York near Buffalo and
requested his assistance in helping save the sight of this young girl.
Medical technology in Tehran is not equal to that here in the United States and
in 1999, Dr. Atwal made arrangements through the Hope For Tomorrow Foundation
and several service organizations to bring Mehrnoush to the United States. She
had her retina reattached by retinal surgeons, Dr. Sara Lyn Notaro and Dr. Mark
Comaratta. He then made arrangements for her to stay in the United States to
seek further medical attention. |

Pan Ping

Pan Ping Pan Ping is from Shanghai, China.
She was the first patient to be helped by the Hope For Tomorrow Foundation.
She
was disfigured when her boyfriend, in a fit of jealousy, threw sulfuric acid
over her face and body. Chinese doctors were able to save her life but unable to
save her face. The Hope For Tomorrow Foundation offered its assistance and Pan
Ping was able to come to the United States for surgery.
The surgery was
performed in 1994 by Dr. Jeffrey Meilman at Sisters Hospital of Buffalo, New
York. The results were astounding and Pan Ping has a new face and a new life.
She was blessed by Pope John Paul II in 1994. |

Margaret Orlowska

Margaret Orlowska The Hope For
Tomorrow story grew from the tragedy of a Polish girl who needed surgical help
she could not get in her homeland.
Margaret Orlowska is from Poland. At
18 years old she was in a fiery automobile accident that left her face
destroyed. The Polish American community of Buffalo, New York heard of her
plight and raised the necessary funds to bring her to Buffalo, where in 1991,
the Erie County Medical Center and Dr. Jeffrrey Meilman donated their services
to help restore her beauty. What they did was a miracle.

It took a lot of people caring about others in need that made Margaret's
life change. But Margaret's story changed them too and because of her the Hope
For Tomorrow Foundation was born.
Margaret was blessed by Pope John Paul
II in 1992.
